Price distribution
Price and capacity
Here, 472 listings from Chinese brands meet five gripsters from the German brands Schwerkraft and Werkmax. The result is surprising: China leads on price, while the German brands lead on median load capacity.
Prices
The median price is €66 for Chinese brands and €90 for German brands, and the average is €84 versus €100. Chinese units cost €12 to €472, German ones €59 to €179. The cheapest German listing, the Werkmax Plattini Digital for €59, comes in below the Chinese average.
Load capacity and features
By median, German models carry 300 kg, Chinese models 200 kg. That is down to the Schwerkraft vacuum gripper with 300 kg, which accounts for three of the five German listings. The maximum of 500 kg, on the other hand, belongs to a Chinese model. Per €100 of purchase price, the figures are 337 kg for China and 273 kg for Germany, the smallest gap to China among all countries of origin.
All German models are electric, compared with 94% among Chinese brands. Differences show up in the display: 60% of German units report the vacuum by LED, 40% digitally. In China it is the other way round, with 66% digital display and 9% LED. No German listing states a removable battery (42% of Chinese electric units) or USB-C (14%), but 40% have a built-in battery. An automatic re-pump is fitted to 40% of German and 27% of Chinese electric units. The seal is always rubber on German brands, and on 85% of Chinese ones.
Manufacturing
471 of the 472 Chinese listings are made in China. The German listings do not name a country of manufacture.
Verdict
Chinese brands offer the widest choice and the lowest entry price. German brands deliver plenty of load capacity for a moderate premium, though with only two model ranges. If you are looking for a gripster with an LED or digital display between €59 and €179, you will find both on the Germany page, and the full range under China. The displays are compared in Digital display vs. LED.
