What to look for

• Coated or raw: Painted, veneered or melamine-faced panels are airtight and hold well. Raw wood, OSB or uncoated chipboard let air through.
• Re-pumping: On slightly porous surfaces, automatic re-pump compensates for vacuum loss. Still, keep an eye on the display.
• Know your surfaces: Which materials are suitable is shown in the surface guide.
• Doors and panels: An oval gripster fits well on door leaves and narrow panel strips, see Round vs. oval.
