What to look for

• Remove oil: Metal sheets often carry an oil film. Degrease the contact area, or the vacuum gripper will slip under load.
• Thin sheets: Very thin material can deform under the vacuum. Attach several gripsters and lift evenly.
• Sharp edges: Cut-resistant gloves are a must when carrying sheet metal.
• Look after the seal: Metal chips damage the sealing lip. Tips in the guide Caring for and replacing seals.
• Put load capacity in context: For guidance on reserves, see Assessing load capacity realistically.
