Overview

Manual 8-inch gripster with hand pump and carry case: a manual vacuum gripper with a round suction pad (Ø 203 mm). It costs around €43. It is sold without a brand name of its own, like many vacuum lifters made in China.

Price and load capacity compared

Among the 200 round gripsters in this comparison, it is priced below the median of €60.

Drive and operation

The vacuum is created by hand with a plunger pump. There is no battery, so the tool is always ready to use. A red mark on the plunger shows when you need to pump again.

Seal and applications

The sealing lip is rubber. On smooth surfaces such as glass, polished tiles and stone it seals very tightly and lasts a long time; on rough or textured surfaces it is at a disadvantage. According to the data sheet it is suitable for tiles, glass and natural stone.

Strengths

Low price for its design
Durable rubber seal
No battery needed, always ready
Comes with a carry case

Weaknesses

Rubber holds less well on rough surfaces
Vacuum has to be pumped by hand
