Price distribution
Price and capacity
Ten vacuum grippers from US brands meet four models from Montolit and Battipav from Italy. The two origins have a remarkable amount in common: both offer many manual units, and they are the only ones for which the data shows manufacturing in the brand's home country.
Prices
The median price is €122 for US brands and €138 for Italian ones. The averages are €133 versus €152. US models cost €31 to €258, Italian ones €52 to €278. Both sides are therefore well above the median of Chinese brands, €66.
Load capacity and features
US models carry a median of 120 kg, with a range from 57 to 150 kg. Among Italian brands, only the Montolit Geco states a load capacity, 125 kg for €195. Per €100 of purchase price, the figures are 148 kg for US brands and 64 kg for the Italian model.
In drive, the two are close: 60% of US models and 50% of Italian ones are electric, and the rest work with a hand pump. Among electric units, US brands have more convenience features: half have an automatic re-pump, a third charge via USB-C, and 30% of all US models have a digital display. None of the Italian listings states any of these three features. A removable battery is found on a third of US electric units and on one of the two Italian ones. Round suction pads dominate on both sides (80% and 75%), as do rubber seals (90% and 100%).
Manufacturing
Four of the ten US listings name the USA as the country of manufacture, and three name China. Among Italian brands, three of the four listings state Italy as the country of manufacture, and none states China.
Verdict
US brands offer more choice, more load capacity per euro and more features on their cordless units. Italian brands have the higher share of manufacturing in the home country. If you are looking for a vacuum lifter, often called a gripster in the trades, with a hand pump, you will find suitable models on both sides, see Manual vacuum lifters. Details: USA and Italy.
