Price distribution
Price and capacity
Two origins, two brands: nine vacuum grippers from GRABO of Israel face four models from Rubi of Spain. Both offer only cordless units but take opposite approaches to charging and price.
Prices
GRABO costs a median of €266, Rubi €96. The averages are €286 versus €82. GRABO models range from €72 to €500, Rubi models from €34 to €103. The cheapest GRABO listing, at €72, is therefore below the Rubi median, and the most expensive Rubi model is far below the GRABO median.
Load capacity and features
At GRABO, only the Grabo H states a load capacity, 170 kg for €226. Rubi models carry 70 to 150 kg, with a median of 140 kg. Per €100 of purchase price, the figures are 75 kg for GRABO and 147 kg for Rubi.
On batteries, the two brands go separate ways. GRABO uses a removable battery on 67% of its models and offers no USB-C. Rubi lists no removable battery, but 75% of its models charge via USB-C with a built-in battery. An automatic re-pump is found on 67% of GRABO and 25% of Rubi models. Digital displays are somewhat more common at Rubi, at 75%, than at GRABO, at 56%. GRABO builds only oval suction plates, Rubi round ones on 75% of its models. Only GRABO has foam seals, on a third of its models.
Manufacturing
All nine GRABO listings state China as the country of manufacture. At Rubi, one of the four listings names China as the country of manufacture, and the rest give no information.
Verdict
Rubi is the much cheaper choice and offers more load capacity per euro, plus USB-C charging. GRABO is aimed at users looking for an oval gripster with a removable battery and automatic re-pump. The pros and cons of both charging systems are explained in Removable battery vs. USB-C. Details: Israel and Spain.
