Vacuum lifters with a foam seal

A foam seal conforms to grooves, textures and slight unevenness where a rubber seal cannot form a tight edge. The database lists 63 vacuum grippers with a foam seal. Prices per unit range from €23 to €407; at €84, the typical value is above that of rubber models (€64). Typical load capacity is 140 kg, with a peak of 500 kg; per €100 you typically get 174 kg, a little over half as much as with rubber seals (347 kg). There are no round models here: 51% are oval and 49% rectangular. All units are electric, 56% with a digital display and 16% with an LED indicator. 43% have a removable battery, and 19% charge via USB-C.

What to look for

• The surface decides: Foam plays to its strengths on slip-resistant tiles, brushed stone and textured panels. Which surfaces are suitable is shown in the surface guide.
• Wear: Foam wears faster and picks up dirt. Spare seals should be available, see Caring for and replacing seals.
• Load capacity with a reserve: On textured surfaces, every gripster holds less than on glass. Be generous with the safety factor.
• Compare seals: For a side-by-side comparison, see Rubber vs. foam.
